The ‘standard’ British accent is called RP (= Received Pronunciation).<\/p>\n

The ‘standard’ American accent is called GA (= General American, a.k.a. Broadcast Standard, which has been derived from the general Midwestern standard).<\/p>\n

Example: in RP ‘aunt’ is pronounced as [a:nt] and ‘ant’ as [\u00e6nt], while in GA the words are pronounced the same: [\u00e6nt].<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
